Los Angeles, California
Project Description
Los Angeles County implemented a restaurant letter grading system in 1998. The nation’s most populous county, Los Angeles, has more than 25,000 restaurants. The letter grades are based on a score. The score starts at 100 and is reduced by violations found by public health inspectors. As you might expect, an A grade is 100 - 90 points, a B grade is 89 - 80 points, and a C grade is 79 -70 points. According to the Los Angeles Department of Public Health officials, the implementation of this grading system has improved consumer information and created a cultural awareness of food safety. The Department conducts nearly 50,000 restaurant inspections each year.
Our quest is to figure out where is it safest to eat in Los Angeles County if the restaurant that received a violation!
